- Will feature a completely new design
- Launch will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Pulsar brand
Bajaj Auto is ushering in a new era for the Pulsar brand, and BikeWale has learnt that the company is expected to launch the next-generation Pulsar towards the end of July. While reports have suggested that the upcoming model could either be the Pulsar 125 or the Pulsar 150, our understanding is that the latter is the more likely candidate.
The timing itself offers a strong clue. The launch is expected to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Pulsar nameplate, which made its debut in India in November 2001 with the iconic Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180. Given the significance of the milestone, introducing an all-new Pulsar 150 would be a fitting tribute to the motorcycle that transformed Bajaj’s image and went on to become one of India’s most recognisable performance bikes.
More importantly, the Pulsar 150 has always been at the heart of the Pulsar story. It established the brand’s performance credentials, created an entirely new segment in the Indian market back in the 2000s, and continues to enjoy strong recall even after two decades. Meanwhile, the Pulsar 125 is a relatively recent addition to the lineup, and it simply doesn’t carry the same heritage or emotional connection as the 150.
According to our sources, the upcoming Pulsar 150 is expected to be an all-new product instead of a comprehensive facelift. It is likely to feature a new chassis, an updated engine, a revised suspension setup, and a host of modern features. These changes suggest that Bajaj could be laying the foundation for the next phase of the Pulsar brand.
From a product strategy standpoint, too, a new-generation Pulsar 150 makes sense. Bajaj has progressively modernised much of the Pulsar range over the last few years with the N-series and NS models. The long-running Pulsar 150 remains the only model without any major upgrade, making it the most logical candidate for a complete generational overhaul.
We believe the upcoming next-generation Pulsar 150 will mark the beginning of the next chapter for one of India’s most iconic motorcycle nameplates and could well define what the Pulsar brand stands for over the next 25 years.
