Ducati Streetfighter V4 prototype officially revealed; to compete at Pikes Peak Hill Climb

- Carlin Dunne will ride the Streetfighter V4 at Pikes Peak

- The race will act as the performance testing ground for the bike

- Prototype gets a ‘pixelated’ livery and winglets for the race

Ducati had released a teaser video of its upcoming naked street bike, the Streetfighter V4, in the last week. While that just gave us a glimpse of the motorcycle, the Italian brand has now fully revealed the Streetfighter V4 in its prototype form. We will get to witness the bike in action at this year’s Pikes Peak Hill Climb Race on 30 June where Ducati rider Carlin Dunne will be competing astride the Streetfighter V4.

Ducati stated that the race event will act as the ‘ideal proving ground for testing the high performance of the Streetfighter.’ Talking about the performance, propelling this behemoth will be an 1103cc, Desmosedic Stradale V4 motor which also powers the Panigale V4 sportsbike. While this engine belts out 208bhp and 124Nm on the Panigale, Ducati hints that it will be tuned differently to match the character of the naked machine.

In terms of design, the Streetfighter V4 borrows the fuel tank and the tail section from its fully-faired sibling. However, that’s where the similarities end as the mean-looking front fascia and the sharp tank shrouds give the bike an appeal of its own. Moreover, the pair of winglets on the either side signifies that it is race-ready. Furthermore, accentuating the intimidating looks of the Streetfighter is the ‘pixelated’ livery which, Ducati says, ‘exalts the lines designed by the Centro Stile Ducati.’ Expect the production version of the bike to carry the same design while losing out on the winglets and the bold livery.

Going by the statement of Claudio Domenciali, CEO of Ducati, the motorcycle will debut at the Ducati World Premiere 2020 where we will see the bike in its production form. Prior to that, the Italian bikemaker will also unveil the prototype version of the bike at this year’s EICMA show in Milan.
