Ducati has taken the wraps off the stunning Formula 73, a limited-edition motorcycle inspired by the brand’s rich racing history. It draws direct inspiration from the iconic 750 Super Sport Desmo, which achieved a historic victory at the 1972 Imola 200 and remains one of Ducati’s most celebrated race machines.

The Formula 73 features a café racer-inspired design that reflects its heritage-focused positioning. It comes equipped with clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, a small front fairing, and a minimal rear section, all of which contribute to its classic and purposeful appearance.

The motorcycle gets a distinctive silver and aqua-green paint scheme, complemented by a gold vertical stripe on the fuel tank. This styling element pays tribute to the original Imola race bike, where the exposed stripe served as a visual fuel level indicator.

Further enhancing its retro appeal are the spoked wheels, which are paired with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. The bike also retains Ducati’s signature trellis frame, which continues to be a defining design and structural element across many of the brand’s motorcycles.

Powering the Formula 73 is Ducati’s air-cooled 803cc Desmodue L-twin engine. It produces 73bhp at 8,250rpm and 65.2Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, offering a balance of performance and character that suits the motorcycle’s heritage-inspired concept.

The motorcycle is equipped with a Termignoni-developed exhaust system. This setup is expected to deliver a sporty exhaust note while complementing the bike’s overall retro performance theme.

Despite its classic styling, the Formula 73 comes with modern electronics. It includes cornering ABS, traction control, Ducati Quick Shift, and two riding modes. It also gets full-LED lighting and a TFT display.

Ducati will produce the Formula 73 in a limited run of 873 units worldwide. Each motorcycle will be individually numbered and will come with a certificate of authenticity, along with special collector’s packaging that includes design sketches from Ducati’s Style Centre.
