Ducati has unveiled the Formula 73, a limited-edition motorcycle that draws heavily from the brand’s rich racing heritage. The Formula 73 is inspired by the iconic 750 Super Sport Desmo, which traces its roots back to Ducati’s historic victory at the 1972 Imola 200.
The Formula 73 features a café racer-inspired design with a distinctive silver and aqua-green colour scheme, complemented by a gold vertical stripe on the fuel tank. This styling detail pays tribute to the original Imola race bike, where the exposed strip served as a fuel level indicator. The motorcycle also gets clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, a small front fairing and a minimal rear section. Adding to the vintage appearance are the spoked wheels paired with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, while the trellis frame remains a signature Ducati element.

Powering the Formula 73 is Ducati’s air-cooled 803cc, Desmodue L-twin engine, which produces 73hp at 8,250rpm and 65.2Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. Ducati has also equipped the bike with a Termignoni-developed exhaust, which is expected to deliver a sporty soundtrack in line with its heritage-inspired positioning.
Despite its retro focus, the Formula 73 comes with a modern electronics package. It gets cornering ABS and traction control, along with Ducati Quick Shift for clutchless upshifts and downshifts. Two riding modes allow riders to tailor the bike’s response. It also gets full-LED lighting and a TFT display.

The Ducati Formula 73 will be produced in a limited run of 873 numbered units worldwide. Each motorcycle will come with a certificate of authenticity and special collector’s packaging that includes design sketches from Ducati’s Style Centre.
