BMW Motorrad Patents Concept RR Design in India

BMW Motorrad has filed the design patent for the Concept RR in India, hinting that the production version of its next-generation flagship superbike could eventually make its way to our market.

Unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como last year, the Concept RR previewed the future design and engineering direction of BMW’s high-performance RR range. It is based on the M 1000 RR and is powered by a liquid-cooled, inline-four-cylinder engine derived from the company’s WorldSBK race bike, producing over 230bhp.

The concept also showcases an aggressive aerodynamic package with integrated winglets, airflow channels running through the bodywork, and extensive use of carbon fibre and aluminium to keep weight in check while improving high-speed stability.

In India, BMW Motorrad currently retails the S 1000 RR, which is priced from Rs 23.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The 999cc, inline-four engine develops 210bhp and 113Nm. The 2025 model features revised bodywork, updated winglets, and brake-cooling ducts integrated into the front wheel cover.

Although the patent filing doesn’t confirm an imminent launch, it suggests BMW is securing intellectual property rights for the design in India. The production version of the Concept RR is expected to debut globally before arriving here, although BMW Motorrad has not revealed an official timeline.
