- Based on the 450 platform
- To be offered in four variants
- Takes design inspiration from the BMW S1000 R
BMW has officially unveiled the F 450 R globally, the second motorcycle based on the 450 platform. The brand had teased the bike earlier, giving us a basic idea of what we could expect. Now that the bike has been officially unveiled, all details regarding its features and other bits have been revealed.

The motorcycle features an aggressive design that takes inspiration from the higher-capacity BMW S1000 R. It looks quite sporty, with its muscular tank and aggressive extensions. The exposed frame also adds to the rugged appeal.
The motorcycle is powered by the same 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as the BMW F 450 GS. But the German bikemaker has made some tweaks to make it more suited for road riding. The motor produces 48bhp at 8,750rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750rpm, and is paired to a six-speed gearbox, with the Easy-Ride Clutch (ERC) available in certain variants as part of the Innovation package.

It is suspended on a 43mm KYB inverted fork and KYB monoshock setup. It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. The brand will also be offering an optional Sport Suspension package, adding compression and rebound damping adjustment at the front and adjustable preload and rebound at the rear.

The motorcycle features a 6.5-inch TFT console, along with a long list of features. The features include multiple riding modes, dynamic brake control, dynamic traction control, shift assist pro, and more. But the level of features that’ll be offered depends on the variants. Here’s a brief breakdown:
Variant | Features |
Base | N/A |
Exclusive | Shift Assistant Pro & Sport suspension |
M Sport | Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, and Sport suspension |
M Sport with Innovation Package | ERC, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, and Sport suspension |
The brand has not revealed its launch plans yet, but we can expect the motorcycle to be launched in India. We can expect the bike to be launched sometime in 2027, with a price tag that is slightly below the BMW F 450 GS. It could be priced starting anywhere from Rs. 4.60 lakh to Rs. 4.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
