    • Booking amount varies from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000
    • Likely to be priced at Rs. 5 Lakh (ex-showroom)

BMW Motorrad dealers have started accepting unofficial bookings for the highly anticipated F 450 GS in India. The motorcycle is expected to carry an on-road price tag of Rs. 6 Lakh, which translates to an ex-showroom price of around Rs. 5 Lakh. The official launch might take place at India Bike Week 2025 in December, with deliveries beginning from January 2026.

The booking amount varies city-wise. It starts from Rs. 10,000 and goes up to Rs. 50,000, and it is fully refundable. The F 450 GS will be manufactured in India by TVS, BMW’s Indian partner, and that should allow the German brand to price the motorcycle competitively. In fact, to create a strong initial hype, BMW might peg the motorcycle below Rs. 5 Lakh (ex-showroom), at least for the initial few months, as introductory pricing. Considering the competition is set to heat up in this space with the arrival of bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 and CFMoto 450 MT that will probably be priced competitively, anything above Rs. 5 Lakh might dampen the excitement among enthusiasts and potential buyers.

In terms of technical specifications and technology, the F 450 GS is quite impressive. At the heart of the matter is an all-new 450cc, parallel-twin engine which produces 48bhp and nearly 45Nm of peak torque. Claimed kerb weight is 178kg, and the fuel tank capacity is 14 litres. A steel tubular frame uses the engine as a stressed member. Suspension is by KYB with 180mm travel at both ends. The Sport and GS Trophy variants feature adjusters for rebound and compression at the fork, plus a sport tune. Wheels are 19-inch front and 17-inch rear with tubeless tyres, and Brakes include a 310mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with Brembo calipers.

As for the tech, riders get Rain, Road, and Enduro modes as standard, with Enduro Pro unlocked from the Exclusive trim upwards. A 6.5-inch TFT display shows all the crucial data and offers smartphone connectivity, while heated grips and full-LED lighting are standard. Shift Assistant Pro (quick shifter) comes on every variant except Base. The GS Trophy trim debuts BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch, an advanced centrifugal clutch that removes the need to use the lever for pull-aways or shifts, though the lever remains for manual control when needed.
