BMW had unveiled the Definition CE-04 electric scooter in November last year, and now finally, the company has launched it in the international markets. The e-scooter will arrive in the US by 2022. As of now, it is available in Germany at Euro 11,990, which converts to Rs 10.57 lakh. While there's no clarity of its arrival in the Indian market, let's take a look at the details to know more about the CE-04 electric scooter.
The CE-04 gets a futuristic and unconventional design. It gets a long wheelbase, edgy elements on its fairing, a BMW badge, flat single-piece seat and storage compartments at the front and side. The side compartment can accommodate a helmet and can be operated while being seated. The CE-04 is available in two colour options: Grey Metallic and Light White. The Grey Metallic variant comes with orange highlights, a black/orange seat, an orange-coloured wind deflector and various graphics. Meanwhile, the Light White variant is complemented by a black/grey seat and a transparent wind deflector.
The CE-04 is propelled by a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor that produces 41.57bhp of power. This electric motor helps the e-scooter to achieve a top speed of 120kmph. The BMW CE-04 draws power from an 8.9kWh air-cooled lithium-ion battery that requires a charging time of one hour forty minutes when charged via a fast charger. This battery lends the e-scooter a range of over 100km.
BMW has loaded the CE-04 with a host of features like all LED lights, a 10.24-inch TFT coloured instrument cluster, three riding modes (Eco, Road and Rain), a USB-C charging port, dual-channel ABS, automatic stability control, dynamic traction control and an intelligent emergency call system. The company is also offering a Dynamic riding mode as an ex-works option. The TFT dash is a full-HD resolution screen that comes with an integrated map, navigation and connectivity. Customers can further opt for accessories like a quick charger, heated grips, high windscreen, centre stand, alarm system and e-call.
The BMW CE-04 electric scooter uses a tubular steel frame. The ride of the e-scooter is taken care of by 35mm telescopic forks at the front and a single-sided swingarm with a directly mounted strut at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking, it employs a 265mm dual-disc at the front and a 265mm single-disc at the rear. The electric scooter rides on 15-inch aluminium wheels. These wheels are wrapped in tyres having 120mm width at the front and 160mm width at the rear.
