The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is the company’s new contender in the lucrative premium commuter segment, positioned between the Pulsar 150 and the Pulsar 180. The Pulsar NS160 borrows bodywork from the bigger Pulsar NS200, while at its heart is a newly developed 160cc engine designed to make it a good commuter. At first glance, you might mistake the Pulsar NS160 for the Pulsar NS200, thanks to the identical design and styling.
The points of distinction are the ‘160’ decal on the tank extension, skinnier tyres and front forks, and the drum brake for the rear wheel.
Despite being a five-year-old design, the Pulsar NS160 looks modern thanks to the edgy headlamp, sculpted fuel tank and the sharp tail section.
The Pulsar NS160 even gets the same instrument cluster as the Pulsar NS200 with an analogue tachometer in the center and a LCD display on the right.
The Pulsar NS160 is built around a perimeter frame with the engine as a stressed member. At 142 kilograms, it is 10 kilograms lighter than Pulsar NS200.
At the heart of the Pulsar NS160 is a 160cc oil-cooled four-valve single-cylinder engine. It delivers 15.3bhp and 14.6N of torque.
The Pulsar NS160 rides on 80/100 front and 110/80 rear tyres. Stopping power is provided by a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake.
Apart from this matte grey/black paint scheme, the Pulsar NS160 is also offered in red/black and blue/black paint schemes. It is priced at Rs 78,368 (ex-showroom).
