Aprilia recently debuted its most affordable motorcycle in India, the Tuono 457. Yes, it is based on the same platform as the RS 457 but is different in how it looks and the hardware. We spent a few hours riding it in Bengaluru and here is what we think of the bike.

The Tuono 457’s name might follow the footsteps of its siblings like the Tuono 660 and the Tuono V4 but its design language doesn’t. The baby Tuono dons a completely new fascia which might be slightly polarising to some. It gets a centre-set LED headlight with LED DRLs on the sides.

The setup is complemented by a muscular fuel tank and sharp tank extensions which resemble the ones on the RS 457. We were quite impressed by the Tuono 457’s build quality. It comes off as premium and is well-finished, especially on the cast aluminium frame and the paint quality as well.

Powering the Tuono 457 is the same 457cc parallel twin that makes 46.9bhp and 43.5Nm and gets a six-speed gearbox. This is the same engine that we have tested in the RS. We are happy to report that it is tractable and lets you ride the bike in higher gears at lower speeds without much hesitation.

Even the clutch pulls in lightly and the Tuono accelerates linearly. We like how the motor picks up the speeds just like it did on the RS.

The Aprilia Tuono 457 gets a single-piece tubular handlebar and an upright rider triangle. The setup gives it more leverage in handling and also offers a slightly more relaxed and upright rider triangle.

From our time spent belting the Tuono 457 at the Nandi hills, we found the bike to handle intuitively, and in a very engaging manner. This is a result of the absorbent front and rear suspension.

But what about its brakes, comfort, features, and rider aids? And is the Aprilia Tuono 457 worth the asking price of about Rs. 4.5 lakh (on-road)? We recommend you read our first ride review to get the answers.
