Aprilia will soon replace the SR 160 with the bigger SR 175 in India, and the latter has started reaching dealerships ahead of its official launch. As per our dealer sources, the updated scooter will bear the same price tag as the SR 160, and it will start from Rs. 1.31 lakh, ex-showroom.
As seen in these pictures, the design of the SR 175 remains the same as its predecessor. The sporty and aggressive styling, although dated, still looks modern and handsome. However, Aprilia has given it refreshed graphics and colour options, which seem to be inspired by the RS 457 and the Tuono 457. What’s worth noting is that the old LCD console has been replaced with a new TFT screen, which looks like the one on its 457 siblings. A leaked video of the scooter reveals that this screen has a host of information on display, along with Bluetooth connectivity.
Powering the scooter is a bigger 175cc, air-cooled engine, which certainly produces more power and torque output than the existing 160.03cc unit, which produces 11.11bhp and 13.44Nm. The exact power and torque output numbers will be released soon. The hardware specifications are likely to remain unchanged. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels with telescopic forks and a monoshock, while braking is handled by a disc-drum setup and single-channel ABS.
Aprilia will soon announce the variant-wise prices and detailed specifications of the SR 175.
