A new 650cc Royal Enfield undergoing tests, Vespa Racing Sixties limited edition launch, and many more such stories fetched the buyer’s and enthusiast’s attention in the last week. Although we promptly covered each one of them on BikeWale, there were a few stories which deserve a second glance and here’s a quick round-up of them.
Vespa launched the new Racing Sixties limited edition models of the SXL 125 and SXL 150 scooters in India. While the former is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh, the latter costs Rs 1.32 lakh. This version pays homage to Vespa’s racing scooters from 1960 with a white paint job along with red stripes across its bodywork. It also sports golden alloy wheels which make it look more premium. In terms of cycle parts and engine, the Racing Sixties editions of the SXL 125 and SXL 150 remain identical to their standard counterparts.
Suzuki Burgman Street 125 blue colour
Suzuki introduced the funky-looking blue colour option for its 125cc maxi-scooter, the Burgman Street 125, in India. Priced at Rs 79,700, it costs the same as the rest of the paint schemes. Now, there are a total of five colour options available for the Burgman Street which also include matte grey, matte black, matte red and white. Powering the Burgman Street BS6 is a 125cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine which produces 8.7bhp and 10Nm. The list of features includes full-LED headlamp and tail lamp and a fully-digital instrument cluster.
While the upcoming Meteor has been the most talked-about RE over the past few months, the Chennai-based bike maker was spotted testing a new 650cc cruiser for the first time. It sported a low-slung profile and a long wheelbase along with laid-back ergonomics. It is likely to be powered by the same 650cc, parallel-twin engine which does duty on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. However, the rest of the cycle parts will be different to go with its cruiser theme.
Royal Enfield Meteor 350 new details
A new brochure of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has been leaked online, revealing new details about the motorcycle. It will incorporate a 15-litre fuel tank and will ride on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel. RE will offer the bike in three variants – Fireball, Stellar and Supernova, differing in terms of features and colour options. Underpinned by a new double cradle frame, the Meteor is powered by RE’s new ‘J’ architecture engine which is expected to be smoother than the existing 346cc mill.
Triumph Rocket 3 GT launch date
Triumph has confirmed that it will launch the new GT variant of its Rocket 3 power cruiser in India on 10 September. It is a more touring-oriented model over the R version which is already on sale in the country. The presence of forward-set footpegs and pulled-back handlebar make for a relaxed riding position. However, the party piece is its 2500cc, inline three cylinder motor which is the largest engine on a production bike. This unit belts out 165bhp of power and a staggering 221Nm of peak torque.
