2020 Kawasaki Versys 650 BS6: Top 4 highlights

Kawasaki has updated its India portfolio by launching the new 2020 Versys 650 in the country. The middle-weight touring motorcycle hasn’t received significant updates and has remained unchanged in most of the aspects. Nevertheless, we tell you the top four highlights of the motorcycle.

BS6 Engine

The biggest change in the Versys 650 comes in the form of a revised 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine which is now BS6-compliant. Due to the emissions getting more constrained, the power figures have witnessed a considerable drop. It churns out 65.7bhp and 61Nm now, as against the previous model’s 67.4bhp and 64Nm. It continues to be linked to a six-speed gearbox.

Design and features

Kawasaki has kept the sharp and angular design of the Versys 650 unchanged. However, the Candy Lime Green paint scheme of the bike sports slightly refreshed graphics. The feature list has also been retained as it was. Hence, it gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-pod headlamp with halogen bulbs, a 21 litre fuel tank and an adjustable windscreen.

Hardware

The hardware of the Versys 650 has also remained untouched. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends which are suspended by 41mm upside down forks with 150mm of travel up front and an offset monoshock with 145mm of travel at the rear. Braking is taken care of by dual 300mm petal discs with dual-piston calipers at the front and a 250mm disc with single-piston caliper at the rear.

Price hike

Since the Versys 650 hasn’t received any major update for 2020, the price hike is also insignificant for its segment. Kawasaki has pegged the bike at Rs 6,79,000 (ex-showroom) which makes it Rs 10,000 more expensive than the previous model.
