BMW Motorrad Active Cruise Control announced

- Active Cruise Control automatically regulates speed and distance

- The system comes with two control characteristics

- To arrive on BMW Motorrad products soon

BMW Motorrad has announced its new Active Cruise Control (ACC) system. The tech, which is already available in cars, will be soon available on BMW motorcycles.

The latest tech was developed in cooperation with Bosch. The new ACC is claimed to offer maximum comfort to touring motorcyclists. The system automatically regulates the speed set by the rider and the distance to the vehicle driving in front. The system regulates the speed of the motorcycle when the distance to the vehicle in front is reduced and maintains the pre-set distance defined by the rider. The ACC automatically reduces the speed when cornering.

The rider can select from three stages of distance. The individual settings are displayed on the TFT instrument cluster. The system has two selectable control characteristics – comfortable or dynamic. Each setting comes with its specific acceleration and deceleration behaviour. The rider can also deactivate the distance control setting to use the Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC).

The company is yet to announce the models that will feature the system and the expected arrival timeline.
