Honda Grazia 125 BS6: Top 5 highlights

Honda has launched the new BS6-compliant version of its premium 125cc scooter, the Grazia 125. Similar to many other Honda products, the Grazia too has received a number of updates over the previous model, instead of just a cleaner engine. In that case, let’s check out the top five highlights of the Grazia 125 BS6.

Sharper design

The design of the Grazia has become sharper with angular lines across its body work. Honda has redesigned the front apron which now features more cuts and creases and houses a sleeker headlamp setup. The handlebar cowl too looks sportier with a V-shaped LED DRL and a small visor-like panel. At the rear, it gets separate units for the tail lamp and turn indicators which altogether boast of a futuristic design. Furthermore, the re-designed under seat storage space and a larger front glove box make for increased convenience.

Fuel-injected engine

The new Grazia BS6 is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder engine with Honda’s programmed fuel-injection along with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP). Notably, this is the same unit which is employed in the new Activa 125 Fi which churns out 8bhp at 6,000rpm and 10.3Nm at 5,000rpm. It is claimed to deliver power in a more linear and smoother way with better fuel-efficiency.

New features

Honda had bestowed the new Grazia with a plethora of new features. It gets a new DC LED headlamp which promises to provide better illumination. There’s a multi-function switch which can be used to unlock the seat as well as the new external fuel filler cap. The switchgear has also been tweaked to include an engine start/stop switch and integrated headlamp beam and pass switch. For saving fuel, Honda has also incorporated the Idle Stop System (in Deluxe variant) which automatically shuts the engine off during brief halts. It can be easily restarted by a slight twist of the throttle.

Data-intensive display

An updated console which Honda is calling the ‘Intelligent Instrument Display’ is also a part of the update. While this is the same dual pod LCD screen of the BS4 model, it shows additional information such as average and real-time fuel efficiency, distance to empty, service due indicator, clock and a three-step Eco indicator. It also gets a side stand indicator with an engine cut-off switch.

Hefty price hike

While the aforementioned updates have made the Honda Grazia BS6 much more desirable, it has also become considerably more expensive over the BS4 model. It is available in two variants – Standard and Deluxe which are priced at Rs 73,912 and Rs 80,978, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a premium of around Rs 13,000 and Rs 16,000 over their respective BS4 counterparts. It competes against the TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Burgman Street 125, Hero Maestro Edge 125 and Yamaha Ray ZR 125
