Honda ADV150 adventure scooter launched in the US; India launch unlikely

- Honda ADV150 adventure-styled launched in the US

- Priced at USD 4,299 (Rs 3.28 lakh)

- To be available in dealerships from June

Honda has launched the premium adventure-styled scooter, the ADV150, in the US. The Japanese bike maker has priced the scooter at USD 4,299 which translates to Rs 3.28 lakh (ex-showroom). With that exorbitant price tag, what all does the ADV150 have on offer? We take a quick look.

Honda Grazia Action

The Honda ADV150 made its debut in Indonesia in July last year and we were taken aback at the very first sight of its pictures. It sports a styling never seen before on a 150cc scooter, which is majorly inspired by its 745cc sibling, the X-ADV. Although it is meant to be ridden on tarmac, the profoundly rugged design theme makes it look ready to take on any kind of terrain.

Nestled in that sculpted front apron is a pair of LED headlamps, flanked by LED turn indicators. Sitting behind the tall, two-step adjustable windscreen is a fully-digital instrument cluster and a straight, motorcycle-like handlebar. Although the foot rest provision looks too compact due to the step-through design, the spacious seat speaks about the comfort it offers. The edgy tail lamp completing the sleek tail section is also LED.

Other features on ADV150 include a two-litre storage compartment on the front apron, two USB charging ports, keyless ignition and a huge 27-litre under seat storage area. Moving on to the mechanicals, Honda has equipped the ADV with a 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheel which are suspended by premium Showa suspension – telescopic forks and dual gas-charged shock absorbers. Stopping power comes from a disc brake with ABS at the front and drum brake at the rear.

Honda Grazia Right Side

The Honda ADV150 is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine which produces 14.3bhp of power and 13.8Nm of peak torque. This motor is mated to a variomatic transmission.

The ADV150 will be available in dealerships in the US starting June this year where only a single colour option will be available – Matte Black Metallic. As for its India entry, Honda is unlikely to bring the ADV150 to our shores owing to its premium price tag and the cost-sensitive nature of the Indian market.
