Bajaj Dominar 250: Top 5 highlights

Bajaj Auto has announced the launch of the new Dominar 250. The quarter-litre motorcycle is available for Rs 1.60 lakhs, which is about Rs 30,000 cheaper than the flagship Bajaj motorcycle, the Dominar 400. Here we bring you the top five highlights of the new product from Bajaj Auto.

Styling

The new Bajaj Dominar 250 looks near identical to the Dominar 400. The quarter-litre motorcycle gets muscular design and premium features such as full-LED lighting, digital instrument cluster, split-style seats, bungee straps tucked under the seat, upside-down front forks, preload-adjustable rear mono-shock, twin-barrel exhaust and dual channel.

Dimensions

The new Dominar 250 carries exact same dimensions as the Dominar 400. Thus, the new model is 2,156mm long, 836mm wide and 1,112mm tall. The 157mm ground clearance, 1,453mm wheelbase and 13-litre fuel tank capacity, too, is identical to the Dominar 400. While the dimensions are identical, the quarter-litre motorcycle is 4kg lighter than the company’s flagship model.

Engine

The 248.77cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve, liquid-cooled is based on KTM’s 250 Duke, although Bajaj Auto has integrated its twin-spark technology in the Dominar 250. Paired to a six-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned to deliver 26.6bhp at 8,500rpm and 23.5Nm at 6,500rpm. The 0-100kmph acceleration is claimed to take 10.5 seconds while the top speed is rated at 132kmph.

Premium Hardware

The Dominar 250 uses 37mm upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. Braking setup comprises of a 300mm disc and a 230mm disc at the front and the rear respectively while the safety net includes dual-channel ABS. The alloy wheels are wrapped in 100/80-17 tyre at the front and a 130/80-17 tyre at the back.

Prices and Colours

The Dominar 250 is available at an ex-showroom (Delhi) price tag of Rs 1.60 lakhs. Buyers can book the motorcycle for a token amount of Rs 5,000. The colour options include Canyon Red and Vine Black. The Vine Black paint is also available on the Dominar 400.
