New Husqvarna Svartpilen 250: Top 4 Highlights

Bajaj Auto has announced the commencement of bookings for the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 in the Indian market. The motorcycle, and its café-racer sibling, the Vitpilen 250, are available at an introductory price tag of Rs 1.80 lakhs. Here we list the top highlights of the Svartpilen 250.

Design

Designed to be a rugged urban explorer, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 comes equipped with upright ergonomics and dual purpose tyres. Unlike the 401 version, the quarter-litre Svartpilen uses cast aluminium wheels instead of wire-spoke units. The rugged styling is further enhanced by the handlebar brace and cladding on the top of the fuel tank.

Key dimensions include a seat height of 835mm and a ground clearance of 145mm. The Svartpilen 250 tips the weighing scale at 154 kg.

Instrument Cluster

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 gets a full-digital, LCD instrument cluster. The compact instrument cluster packs loads of information, including a digital tachometer, speedometer, gear position indicator and fuel gauge among others. Similar to the KTM 250 Duke, the Svartpilen 250 does not get Bluetooth connectivity.

Engine

The quarter-litre scrambler-style Husqvarna model shares its engine with the 250 Duke. The 248.76cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, fuel-injected engine produces 29.5bhp at 9,000rpm and 24Nm at 7,500rpm. The six-speed transmission, similar to the 250 Duke, gets a slipper clutch function.

Hardware

The Svartpilen 250 shares its underpinnings with the 250 Duke. Thus, the motorcycle is built around a steel trellis frame with a bolted sub-frame. The shock absorption hardware comprises of WP APEX 43mm front forks and a preload-adjustable WP APEX rear mono-shock. Anchoring power comes from a 320mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the back while the safety net includes dual-channel ABS. Features such as full-LED lighting further enhances the premium look of the motorcycle.
