2019 India Bike Week: Six things to expect

India Bike Week. The country’s largest motorbike festival is back for the year 2019 and is scheduled to be held on 6th and 7th of December at Vagator, Goa. It is an event that has witnessed substantial participation of biking enthusiasts, programmes and  manufacturers who are also considering India Bike Week as a platform to launch new products. With the event dates nearing, the guys at India Bike Week (IBW) have provided a preview as to what one can expect at the 2019 edition of the yearly biking festival. On that note, here are the top six things you ought to know about the upcoming sixth edition of the India Bike Week in Goa this December.

KTM 390 Adventure Action

IBW Track Days: For this year’s festival, for the first time, IBW will have four entirely separate, timed, bike racing adventures. 

The first being the Flat Track Timed Trials by Harley-Davidson India wherein participants will be provided custom-built Flat Track 750’s built by Rajputana Customs. The top three riders will be awarded a cash price of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. Participation is free and if  you wish to enrol yourself, then pre-register on the official website. 

Next is the Hill Climb by School of Dirt, an enduro event with the sole agenda of clocking the fastest hill climb. The participation fee is Rs 1,000 requiring pre-registration.

KTM 390 Adventure Left Front Three Quarter

If ADV motorcycling is your thing, then the Big Rock Enduro Training Academy is the one you should look forward for. Get yourself trained from the off-road experts and test your mettle on the specially designed enduro track. Participants need to bring their own motorcycle and riding gear. Participation fee is set at Rs 1,500 for an hour of training (requires pre-registration).

Last is the MOTO MOB, an activity inspired by the moto-mafias of Mexico, it features a track with stripped-down, naked machines that will test one’s skills to the limit. Designed for a duo, this relay activity has a participation fee of Rs.600 for a team of 2 individuals (requiring pre-registration).

International Biking Superstars: 

No biking event is complete without some popular biking personalities and the 2019 IBW won’t be short of any for that matter. The event will feature celebrity bikes including Rok Bagoros, (International celebrity stunter), FMX 4 EVER, (International Freestyle MotoCross Team), Aishwarya Pissay, (first Indian athlete to win a world title), Rajini Krishnan, (first Indian to win the Asian Road Racing Championship), Simran King, (National Champion for JK Tyre 1000cc Category) and Ashish Raorane (first Indian to complete the FIM Baja World Championship) and they will be showcasing their talents and coming together for Big Trip sessions on Careers in Motorsport which will be moderated by Sagar Sheldekar.

IBW ICONS: 

With KTM participating in IBW for the first time, the Austrian bike maker is bringing along its KTM Adventure Ambassador, Giovanni Sala, a six-time World Enduro Champion and a Master Mentor for the KTM Adventure Rallies to share his insights on adventure segment with the bikers. Besides that, other icons like Aishwarya Pissay, Rajini Krishnan and Simran Singh will also be sharing their insights with the bikers.

Moto Art and Good Music:

No biking event is complete without art and music and for the 2019 IBW, there is a long list of musicians who will be performing at the event. SU Real and General Zooz, Ritviz, Pineapple Express, Best Kept Secret and L.Y.D. are the names who will be seen performing at the event. As for the arts, there will be a Moto Art collective, showcasing some of the various artists presenting biker-inspired art including installations by Bacon and Eggs, Prankur Rana, Mechlogue and Tilak Godwa. 

Global Speakers for the Big Trip: 

People like Candida Louis, Manas Dewan, Anuradha Bhonsale Dewan, Girish Venkatraman, Deepak Kamath, Sukesh Viswanath, Alex Chacon, Debashish Ghosh and Dharmendra Jain, are few of the Big Trip speakers who will be sharing their experiences on motorcycles. The event will also have famous motorcycle travellers like Ted Simon and Nick Sanders along with representatives of Horizons Unlimited sharing their experiences and insights into the world of two-wheel travel.

Retail Therapy for Bikers:

The event will host a one-stop destination for purchase of all kinds of accessories and gear to make your trips more enjoyable. There will be over 120 plus bike accessory shops including Performance Racing Store and Big Bad Bikes.

Besides the above mentioned activities, the 2019 edition of the India Bike Week will have several other events including Burn Out and Loudest Bike competitions, BikerInsta booth, Collectors Corner, Barn Cafe by Garage Built Motorcycles and display of KTM’s flagship production model SuperDuke 1290, Freeride and many more!
