Ducati likely to unveil new Multistrada 1260 GT variant; could get radar system

- Is reported to be equipped with radar-based cruise control system for safety

- Could get more touring-oriented features and components than the standard Multistrada 1260

- Likely  to be unveiled at the Ducati World Premiere in October

Ducati is reportedly prepping to unveil a new GT variant of its flagship adventure tourer, the Multistrada 1260. It is likely to be a higher-spec variant of the standard model while the highlight of this motorcycle will be the radar-based cruise control system for an added safety.

As per a statement given by Vehicle Innovation Manager of Ducati to MCN, the Italian brand is actively working on introducing the radar technology in its motorcycle, as it intends to be the pioneer at that. The company had started consulting a university to study this system from as early as 2014. However, other brands have also started testing the waters regarding the usability of radar-based technology. KTM was recently spotted running test mule of the upcoming 1290 Super Adventure, which was equipped with the same tech.

Besides this new electronic wizardry, the GT variant is also suspected to come equipped with a bunch of touring-focused components and accessories. In that case, expect it to feature a set of panniers and top box as standard with heated grips and electronically-adjustable suspension, as against the current manual setup. As for the engine, this model won’t be Ducati’s V4-powered Multi which has been in the headlines owing to its frequently-emerging spy shots. Instead, this will be powered by the same 1262cc, L-twin, DVT motor which does duty on the ongoing Multistrada 1260.

Ducati is likely to unveil the Multistrada 1260 GT in October at its World Premiere while the official launch might take place by the end of this year. The motorcycle will perhaps arrive at the Indian shores as well, following its international debut.
