Hero MotoCorp has signed a three year wage settlement agreement with the workers at its Gurgaon factory. The company has agreed to increase salaries of workers on an average of Rs 9,000 per month over a period of three year as a part of this agreement. This agreement is valid from August 1 2012.
"HMC has successfully concluded the wage settlement process with the workers of its Gurgaon plant," said the company in a statement. The talks between the company and the workers have been going on since last year but without much result.
It is believed that the company was skeptical to meet their demands as they feared that the workers at their Dharuhera and Haridwar plants would follow suit. They had been protesting over the last few months in a bid to make the company meet their demands. This included tool-down and hunger strike that is believed to have resulted in a loss of production.
