Hero has recently added two new motorcycles to its ‘X’ portfolio including the XPulse 200 and the XPulse 200T. While the former is an adventure motorcycle, the latter is its touring variant. Both bikes share the same engine and chassis but there are a few aspects which set them apart and we list down the top five of them.
Aesthetics
One look at them and you’ll know both are meant for different purposes. The XPulse 200 has a more upright stance with long travel suspension, spoke wheels, high-set front fender, windscreen, knuckle guards and a high-set exhaust can. The XPulse 200T, on the other hand, shows off its touring intentions with a relaxed stance. It sports alloy wheels which are shod with road-biased tyres, a handlebar which is flatter than the XPulse and the conventionally placed front fender and exhaust can.
Wheels and tyres
The wheels and tyres are among the main aspects which differentiate both the bikes. The touring model rides on 17-inch wheels (front and rear both) which are shod with road-biased MRF Zapper tyres. Now, the XPulse 200, being an adventure bike, features components suitable for off-road riding. It gets a larger 21-inch wheel on the front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear and the tyres are dual purpose sourced from CEAT.
Seat height and ground clearance
Based on their respective purposes, the motorcycles get varied ground clearance and seat height. Firstly, the 200T boasts of a ground clearance of 177mm while the seat height is set at 799mm. The adventure variant has its underbelly 220mm up from the ground while the rider sits at a height of 823mm, both being more than the Touring model, thus aiding in aggressive off-road riding.
Colours
The XPulse 200 gets a total of five colour options. While the carbureted model is available in sports red and black shade, the fuel-injected trim is offered in matte green, pearl fadeless white and matte axis grey colour schemes. The 200T has been introduced only in a carbureted trim with the colour options of candy blazing red, black, matte shield gold and matte axis grey.
Pricing
As mentioned above, the Hero XPulse 200T is available with a carbureted motor only and is more affordable as it carries a sticker price of Rs 94,000. The carbureted XPulse 200 demands a premium of Rs 3,000 over the 200T as it retails at Rs 97,000. The fuel-injected trim of the adventure bike costs Rs 1.05 lakhs (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
