- Was held on 24 March at Bombay Art Gallery in Mumbai

- Customised helmets, paintings and illustrations were on display

- Helmets will be auctioned to support an NGO

Moto Art Show, an art event organising venture, hosted ‘Helmets for India’ custom helmet art exhibition on 24 March at Bombay Art Gallery in Mumbai. The aim of this exhibition was to highlight the importance of wearing helmets for road safety, through the medium of art. Apart from uniquely customised helmets, the exhibition also presented paintings, drawings and illustrations created by artists from India and abroad.

In total, 23 artists showcased their skills of which the highly popular ones included D*Face from UK, IRONic from Hyderabad, Singajogi Satyaveni and Mallika Prakash, who is the founder of Moto Art Show. The artists have utilised various ways to spread the awareness regarding road safety. This includes water colour painting on paper, oil colour on canvas, hand engraving on helmet, studding jewels and stones on helmet, among others.

The ‘Helmets for India’ was conceptualised by Niels Peter Jensen who is a TV host and extreme sports athlete. After he witnessed an accident in Mumbai in 2018, Niels decided to begin a campaign like Helmets for India with the objective “safe ride for everyone, everywhere!” Apart from the exhibition, Neils and his team have also distributed free helmets to school students in Pune and they aim to give away 1000 free helmets in India this year.

The Helmets for India team will also be travelling to a few international motorcycle events such as the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show (USA), Wildays (Italy) and Moto Circle (Austria) where these customised helmets will be showcased. At the end of this year, the team will auction these helmets and the collected fund will be donated to a non-profit organisation. The Helmets for India campaign is supported by various brands including Arai, Hedon, Nexx, Nolan, Sena, Golf Oil India, ActionCams and Route33.
