5 highlights of Royal Enfield Bullet Trials

After multiple spy shots and teaser, the Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 350 and the Bullet Trials 500 have finally been launched in India. With their classic scrambler-styling, the motorcycles pay tribute to the RE’s Trials motorcycle astride which Johnny Brittain won 50 championships at Trials competition from 1948 to 1965. Moreover, these bikes also celebrate the heritage of the brand’s longest-running model, the Bullet, which has been in existence since 1932. Now, the Bullet Trials 350 and Trials 500 have been priced at Rs 1.62 lakhs and Rs 2.07 lakhs, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom). This is a considerable hike over the standard Bullet 350 and Bullet 500. In that case, we list down the five highlights of both the newcomers in Royal Enfield’s line-up.

Old-school scrambler styling:

The design of the Bullet Trials 350 and the Bullet Trials 500 is reminiscent of the scramblers of the olden days. Carrying the retro looks of the Bullet models with chromed body panels, the Trials also portray their purpose with a taller and braced handlebar, single seat, up-swept exhaust, short front and rear fender along with dual-purpose tyres. Moreover, what differentiates them from the standard Bullet bikes is the red (for Trials 350) and green-painted (for Trials 500) chassis and sub frame.

Luggage rack in place of pillion seat:

Both the Trials feature a luggage rack at the rear, replacing the pillion seat. This is placed on the tweaked sub frame which has been positioned higher as compared to the standard Classic and Bullet motorcycles. While this rack can be used for the luggage-mounting purpose, it also lends a rugged appeal to the motorcycle.

Unique paint job:

The Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500 and Trials 350 share a common silver paint job. However, what differentiates them from the other REs is the colour of chassis and sub frame; the 350 gets red shade while the 500 adorns green paint. Moreover, the latter also gets chrome finishing on the either side of its fuel tank and pinstriping on its under-seat panels. What’s more, the Trials bear a 3D Royal Enfield logo on the fuel tank similar to the company’s flagship Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.

Dedicated accessories for the Trials:

While Royal Enfield already offers over 30 optional accessories for the bikes in its portfolio, the company has five unique accessories only for the Trials to suit its purpose and styling. These include an engine guard, headlight grill, number board, aluminium sump guard and handlebar brace pad.

Weight difference:

What else is noteworthy about the Trials twins is their difference in weight as compared to their standard counterparts. The Bullet Trials 350 is 4kg heavier than the standard Bullet 350 at 187kg. On the contrary, the Trials 500, at 192kg, is lighter by 4kg than the Bullet 500. The light weight of the 500cc model can be attributed to the chopped front and rear fenders along with the smaller sub frame.
