Royal Enfield forms its wholly-owned subsidiary in Thailand; to also start new assembly facility

- Will be the first assembly plant outside India

- Scheduled to be operational by June 2019

- RE plans 15 dealerships and 25 service centres in Thailand by March 2020

Royal Enfield has announced that it has formed its first wholly-owned subsidiary in Thailand. On top of that, the company is also setting up a new assembly facility in the country which will be its first CKD assembly plant outside India. Operations at this facility are scheduled to commence by June 2019.

Royal Enfield started operations in Thailand with one store in 2016. Over a period of three years, the company received favourable response from the riders. Royal Enfield launched its flagship models, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, in December 2018 in Thailand. Since then, the bikemaker has reportedly received 700 bookings for the motorcycles while 100 units have already been delivered. Notably, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 clinched the ‘Best Modern Classic Middle-Weight’ title at the Thailand Bike of the Year 2019 awards.

The company plans to have 15 standalone dealerships and 25 authorised service centres in Thailand by March 2020. Moreover, Siddhartha Lal, the CEO of Royal Enfield believes that localization of operations will allow them to serve better to the riders of the country.
