Benelli TRK 502 – What else can you buy?

Benelli has pulled up its socks to widen its portfolio in the Indian market. The company has made its comeback after a short hiatus with the launch of its adventure tourer, the TRK 502. The motorcycle is available in two variants including the Benelli TRK 502 and the TRK 502X. The former is a road-biased tourer priced at Rs 5 lakhs while the latter is an adventure model which costs Rs 5.40 lakhs, both being introductory prices. In that case, let’s take a glimpse at six similarly-priced alternatives the Indian market has on offer.

This price segment is majorly dominated by Kawasaki as the brand offers three motorcycles – the Ninja 650, Z650 and the Vulcan S. The first two bikes are powered by a common 649cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that churns out 67.2bhp and 65.7Nm. However, there’s a difference in body styles; the Ninja 650 is a fully-faired sports tourer while the Z650 is a naked streetbike priced at Rs 5.49 lakhs and Rs 4.99 lakhs, respectively. Now, the Kawasaki Vulcan S is a cruiser for those who seek a laidback riding experience. Boasting of muscular aesthetics, the motorcycle packs the same aforementioned motor but it is tuned to make 59.5bhp and 63Nm of torque. One can have it for Rs 5.48 lakhs.

The Kawasaki Vulcan S has two competitors in this ballpark including the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and the Hyosung Aquila Pro 650. Among these three cruisers, Harley gets the largest engine which is a 749cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that is good for 59Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Aquila Pro features a smaller 647cc mill which puts out 73bhp and 62Nm of torque. The pricing of these bikes are closely similar as the Harley-Davidson Street 750 costs Rs 5.59 lakhs while the Hyosung Aquila Pro 650 retails at Rs 5.62 lakhs. Meanwhile, Hyosung also has a more affordable fully-faired sportsbike with the name GT650R which is priced at Rs 5.23 lakhs. It gets the same engine as the Vulcan S but is tuned to deliver power differently.
