Honda CB300R- What to expect?

Honda has announced that it will be launching the CB300R in India this year. With bookings already commenced for a token amount of Rs 5,000, the bike is expected to arrive in the next few weeks. Here is what you can expect from the upcoming streetfighter from Honda.

Design

The CB300R follows Honda's new 'Neo Sports Cafe' or NSC design language seen on its elder siblings, the CB650R and the CB1000R which was recently launched in India. The bike offers a slightly leaned forward riding posture  thanks to the rear-set foot pegs. And complemented by the muscular fuel-tank, neatly-shaped radiator guard along with a beefy exhaust pipe, the CB300R emanates an aggressive stance. Now, the uniqueness of the styling comes majorly from the bike's round, full-LED headlamp which gives it a retro appeal. Furthermore, LED-lighting has been used on the turn indicators and tail lamp as well.

Honda has equipped the CB300R with an LCD instrument cluster that displays speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and gear indicator.

Engine

The Honda CB300R is powered by a 286cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine that is good for 31bhp and 27.5Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed transmission.

Cycle Parts

The bike rides on 17-inch wheels on both ends that are suspended by 41mm inverted forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. It comes to a halt using a 296mm front disc held on by a four-pot caliper and a single-pot caliper with a 220mm at the rear.

Furthermore, it comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS unit. With a fuel-tanl capacity of 10-litres, the Honda CB300R tips the scales at 143kg.

Pricing

While exact pricing is yet to be revealed, Honda has confirmed that the CB300R will be brought to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route and will retail under Rs 2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will directly compete against the BMW G310 R here.
