Yamaha FZ V 3.0- What to expect

Yamaha is scheduled to launch the FZ V 3.0 on 21 January in India. The bike has been spotted on test a couple of times revealing a few details. So, here is what you can expect from the upcoming motorcycle from Yamaha.

Design

The FZ V 3.0 is expected to get a cosmetic makeover for a refreshed appeal. While it will continues to get its signature, muscular tank, the bike now sports sharper tank extensions, a belly pan and redesigned exhaust. The test mule was also sporting a headlamp similar to the FZ25 which is likely to house full-LED lighting. The FZ V 3.0 will also offer a single-piece seat and a full grab handle in place of the split unit. However, the bike retains the bracket-mounted tail lamp and turn indicator setup.

Engine

The bike is expected to use the same 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, FI engine as the current bike. This unit delivers 13bhp and 12.8Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed gearbox and final chain drive.

Cycle Parts

One of the major additions on the FZ V3.0 will be the inclusion of ABS; likely to be a single-channel unit. Braking hardware is likely to be the same with a 242mm front disc and 220mm rear disc. The bike will ride on coventional telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear with 17-inch wheels on both ends.

Pricing

Given that the bike will get a slight cosmetic makeover along with ABS, we expect the FZ V 3.0 to retail at a premium of around Rs 10,000 from the current model which is priced at Rs 86,542 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will compete against the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer and Honda CB Hornet 160R.
