Ducati recalls Panigale V4 superbikes over oil leak issue

- The recall is for a faulty oil cooler

- It was announced for the bikes in North America

- 1,663 units have been affected

Ducati has issued a recall for its Panigale V4 superbikes due to issues related to its oil cooler. The recall has been made for bikes in North America and 1,663 units are reported to have been affected by the glitch. The company will contact customers and will make dealers replace the faulty oil coolers starting 24 January 2019.

The official recall document states that the output port of the oil cooler may get cracked resulting in oil leak around the radiator. This is possible due to aggressive riding for a long duration. The affected models of the bike include the standard Panigale V4, V4 S and V4 S Speciale.

The Ducati Panigale V4 replaced the 1299 Panigale superbike and its V-twin motor by a 1,103cc, liquid-cooled, four cylinder engine that churns out a hefty 211bhp of power and 124Nm of torque. It is suspended on fully-adjustable Showa upside down front forks and monoshock at the rear. A pair of 330mm disc on the front and a 245mm disc at the rear take care of braking.

The recall has not been announced for the bikes in India yet. The Ducati Panigale V4 is retailed at Rs 20.53 lakh (ex-showroom) in India and goes up against the Aprilia RSV4 RR, Yamaha YZF-R1, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Honda CBR1000RR and the BMW S1000RR
