2019 Triumph Speed Twin revealed

- Resurrects Speed Twin brand

- Gets chassis from Thruxton

- India launch early next year

Triumph Motorcycles has resurrected a legendary name from its history by unveiling a new modern classic, the 2019 Speed Twin.

It looks like it has relation to the Bonneville family, but with a muscular styling and newer engine, the 2019 Speed Twin does look more enticing. It is built around a chassis that has been borrowed from the Thruxton R. At the front, there are 41mm non-adjustable cartridge forks and at the rear, there’s the traditional twin shock setup with adjustable pre-load. The braking on the Speed Twin is taken care of by a Brembo 4-piston fixed calipers and dual 305mm discs at the front and 2-piston Nissin floating caliper with single disc at the rear. 

The Speed Twin gets 7-spoke cast aluminium wheels, measuring 17 inches both front and back. These wheels are shod with Pirelli Rosso Corsa 3 tyres. The fuel tank can hold 14.5 litres of fuel and features the Monza style filler cap. 

The Speed Twin gets its power from a 1200cc parallel-twin engine that is also seen on the Thruxton and the Bobber. It churns out 96bhp at 6750rpm and peak torque of 112Nm at 4950rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The bike gets three riding modes, ABS and switchable traction control system. 

The Speed Twin is expected to hit Indian market early next year, along with the 2019 Scrambler.
