Ducati to make more V4-powered motorcycles

- These are likely to be naked, adventure and touring motorcycles

- Ducati aims to introduce 29 new motorcycles in the next five years

- The company has no plans to make electric two-wheelers for now

Ducati announced that its latest V4 powerplant will be featured in a line-up of new motorcycles in the coming years. These bikes are likely to be naked, adventure and touring motorcycles.

The announcement was made by the company’s CEO, Claudio Domenicali. The top official mentioned that owing to the favourable response the Ducati Panigale V4 has received across the world, the company will be using the V4 powerplant on different platforms. Claudio stated that the next five years will see Ducati introducing 29 new motorcycles. These will consist of a few completely fresh models apart from the updates to the existing ones.

The top honcho also highlighted the homologation special Panigale V4 R superbike which has been recently launched in India. He said that developing its WSBK-spec powerplant was a highly complicated task. It consists of a 998cc Desmosedici Stradale R engine which is down from the standard version’s 1103cc V4 motor. However, the V4 R develops more power at 214bhp and 112Nm as compared to the standard bike’s 211bhp. 

When asked about their future plans related to electric bikes, the CEO said that the company has no plans to enter into that segment as of now. However, it will make electric two-wheelers once it becomes mandatory to do so.
