The new Triumph Tiger 800 off-road focused model was spotted testing which suggests that the upcoming bike will see changes on the engine and cycle parts. What looks like the XC variant, the new Tiger 800 is expected to be revealed next year while it might go on sale in 2020.
While it looks mostly the same as the current Tiger 800 model in terms of cosmetics, the engine looks to have been revised. The most prominent change expected is a hike in engine capacity to 900cc. Moreover, the engine casing and exhaust pipe also look to have been reworked and it will be compliant with the new Euro 5 emission norms.
The mechanical changes on the motorcycle include longer front suspension travel and tweaks on the rear suspension linkage. The subframe of the motorcycle is bolted on to the main frame while the rear footpegs are removable. The motorcycle seems to be running on a 21-inch spoked front wheel which, along with the longer suspension, makes it a potent off-roader.
The ongoing Triumph Tiger 800 is powered by a 799cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which generates 93.7bhp at 9,300rpm and 79Nm at 7,850rpm. The new upgrade on the engine is likely to bump the power to 110bhp.
The Triumph Tiger 800 is available in four variants in India; XR, XRx, XCx and XCA priced at Rs 11.89 lakhs, Rs 13.26 lakhs, Rs 13.89 lakhs and Rs 14.37 lakhs, respectively. It goes up against the Ducati Multistrada 950, BMW F750 GS and F850 GS and Honda Africa Twin.
