Triumph has officially unveiled the Scrambler 1200. The bike sports a scrambler-inspired design language and is offered in two variants; XC and XE.

The bikes get a full-LED headlamp, tail lamp and turn indicators. It also gets an engine bash plate, fork protectors and exhaust shields on the dual high mounted exhausts. The XE variant additionally gets knuckle guards and heated grips as standard equipment. The Scrambler 1200 rides on a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire spoke wheels wrapped in dual-purpose Metzeler Tourance rubber with optional Pirelli Scorpion tyres.

Furthermore, the bikes get a full-colour TFT screen with optional Bluetooth. It also gets an IMU controlled cornering ABS, cornering traction control, cruise control and four ride modes- Road, Rain, Sport and Rider with an additional Off-road mode on the XE variant. The bikes also offer an integrated GoPro control that allows riders to take a photo or video via the bike’s switchgear, and a navigation system.

The Triumph Scrambler 1200 is powered by a 1200cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 88bhp and 110Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed transmission. Stopping power comes from twin 320mm discs held on by Brembo M50 calipers for the front wheel and a single 255mm disc for the rear with a Nissin caliper. Suspension duties are handled by inverted forks sourced from Showa upfront and Ohlins twin shocks at the rear; both fully adjustable units.

While the XC gets 45mm front forks with 200mm of suspension travel, the XE sports fatter 47mm units with a higher 250mm of travel at both ends. The XE also gets a longer swingarm for better stability and adjustable foot pegs as well.

The Scrambler 1200 will go head on against the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and BMW R Nine T Scrambler. The manufacturer has confirmed that it will be launching the bike in India in January 2019. It is likely to be positioned between the Triumph Thruxton R and Tiger 800 XRx with an expected price tag of Rs 12-13 lakhs.
