Upcoming Yamaha FZ V 3.0 spied testing

- It is expected to get cosmetic and mechanical changes

- ABS will come as a standard fitment

- It might be launched in India next year

The upcoming model of Yamaha’s entry-level naked streetfighter, the FZ V 2.0, was spotted testing on the Indian roads. The test mule was sighted on the Bangalore-Chennai highway and it was majorly covered in camouflage. The motorcycle is expected to receive cosmetic as well as mechanical alterations.

Currently, the motorcycle is sold in two iterations; the FZ V 2.0 and the FZ S V 2.0. The model undergoing test rounds is the facelifted version of the motorcycle. While the rear end of the bike looks similar to the ongoing FZ V 2.0, changes can be witnessed on the front. The headlamp appears to be redesigned, which will perhaps be an LED unit, and the tank extensions look more muscular. It will continue to use the fully-digital instrument cluster.

The entry-level Yamaha FZ series boasts of telescopic forks on the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by disc brakes on both ends, but the upcoming bike will surely get ABS as a standard fitment. This is due to the recent mandate for all bike-makers to fit this safety feature on all existing above-125cc models, beginning from April 2019. However, the bike will, perhaps, incorporate single-channel ABS to keep the pricing competitive.

The Yamaha FZ V 2.0 and FZ S V 2.0 are powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 13bhp at 8,000rpm and 12.8Nm at 6,000rpm. The new bikes may see a slight bump in the power figures.

The updated Yamaha FZ is expected to be launched next year and it goes up against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V in India.
