Yamaha is working on a new electric bike platform which is likely to be ready in the next few years. This new platform will spawn a few electric bikes which is being made for India as well as for the rest of the world.
As per a report, around 100 engineers from across the globe including India is working on this big project. The company has already selected a few suppliers to meet component demands for this upcoming platform. The Japanese manufacturer is working on various battery charging techniques. In fact, it is considering the battery swapping technology for this product as well.
It’s still not unclear if this new platform will churn out scooter or motorcycle. All we know is its Japanese rival Suzuki is also working on the same lines. We are expecting the concept model to come out either in 2019 or 2020.
