2018 ARRC Round 4 - Taiga Hada scores second podium for Honda

- Honda Racing India team Taiga Hada finishes on the podium in Race 2 as well.

- Indian riders Rajiv Sethu and Anish Shetty finished 16th and 19th respectively.

- Anthony West triumphed both races and increased his lead in the SS600 category.

The exciting race weekend came to an end on a happy note for India’s only team in the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2018. Idemitsu Honda Racing India grabbed a back-to-back podium finish in Round 4 on the home soil at MMRT.

Taiga Hada, the 20 year old rider from Japan, took the consecutive podium position in the SuperSport 600cc class for Honda. Starting from 6th in the grid, Taiga maintained his blistering pace and finished 3rd in the Race 2.

Anthony West dominated the weekend with consecutive wins expanding his championship lead in the SS600 class. The 37 year old Australian crossed the finish line with flair, almost seven seconds ahead of Tomoyoshi Koyoma (Musashi Boon Siew Honda) who finished second.

In the Asia Production 250cc category, Rafid Topan Sucipto (Yamaha) and Andy Muhammad Fadly (Kawasaki) had a tough fight in the entire race. Both the riders were neck to neck and we witnessed a photo-finish with barely three-tenth of a second separating the trio. Finishing third was Thailand’s Anupab Sarmoon (Yamaha) who also gave both the Indonesian riders a run for their money.

And for his home race, Rajiv Sethu finished in the 16th place after climbing three places on the grid. However he missed scoring a point in Race 2. After a crash in Race 1, Anish Shetty made a come back today finishing in the 19th place.

A debutant in the ARRC, Anish Shetty, commenting on the Round 4, said, “Yesterday was a tough day. I couldn’t complete the race after the high-side. Unfortunately, a bad start in today’s race couldn’t be recovered. But I am happy that I could finish 19th among the best of Asian riders.”

Meanwhile, 14-year old Travis Hall impressed the crowd in the highly-competitive Underbone 150cc category. He took his first podium finish of the season, finishing third behind Malaysian riders Ahmad Fazli Sham and Md. Helmi Azman.

ARRC season will now move to Indonesia on 12-14 October for Round 5, before culminating in Thailand on November 30-December 2.
