- The India leg of the two-wheeler Asia Championship will be held on 3-5 August at MMRT, Chennai.
- The race weekend will see fierce battles in five categories – SuperSport 600cc, Asia Production 250cc, Underbone 150cc categories, Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup and the TVS One-Make Championship.
- Rajiv Sethu and Anish Shetty will have their home race in the ARRC.
The FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) will arrive at Chennai’s MMRT race track for Round 4 which will be held between 3-5 August. The race weekend will host five races including SuperSport 600cc category, Asia Production 250cc and the Underbone 150cc categories, alongside two support events – the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup and one category of TVS One-Make Championship.
The premier SuperSport 600cc category will grab the most limelight with veterans like Anthony West (Australia), Decha Kraisart (Thailand), Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Malaysia) and Tomoyoshi Koyama (Japan) taking their position on the grid.
The Indian riders to look out for this weekend are Chennai’s Rajiv Sethu and Bengaluru-based Anish Damodara Shetty. They’ll be competing in the Asia Production 250cc category. This category has been dominated so far by Indonesia’s Rheza Danica Ahrens with four consecutive wins in six races. Both Indian riders are part of the Idemitsu Honda India Racing team along with Japan’s Taiga Hada, who is competing in the 600cc class. Shetty, in his debut ARRC season, managed to pick up two points by finishing 15th in both the races in Australia; Sethu, on the other hand, is still in quest for his first points in his second season.
Shetty will also be racing in the two races of the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup (CBR 250, Open) which he leads with 86 points. In second place is Coimbatore’s Senthil Kumar (63), both having won two races each in the previous two rounds.
TVS’s one-make series (Apache R310, Open) will host its third round this weekend. There is a three-way battle for the top position between Chennai duo Deepak Ravikumar (70) and Vivek Pillai (61), and Bengaluru’s Yashas RL (58). Meanwhile, the Underbone 150cc category has witnessed a fierce competition between Malaysian riders – Md Helmi Azman (94) and Md Izzat Zaidi (93).
