Triumph is going to launch the 2018 Tiger 800 in India tomorrow. To be available in both XC and XR variants, the new Tiger 800 range is expected to start at Rs 11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
For 2018, Triumph claims that there are 200 updates on the new Tiger 800, which touch upon the rider aids, safety features and performance. The new LED headlamps and redesigned tank side panels give it a new look. Touring comfort has been improved thanks to a five-step adjustable windscreen and raised handlebar. The instrument console gets a five-inch TFT instrument cluster with a five-way toggle switchgear similar to the new Street Triple.
Powering the new Tiger 800 is an 800cc in-line three cylinder engine, delivering 94bhp and 79Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The XC and XR variants can be differentiated by their wheels. While the XR variants gets alloy-wheels and road tyres and are meant to stick to the tarmac, the XC variants get spoke wheels and off-road tyres. The XC also gets an additional ‘Off-Road Pro’ mode, with a special traction control setting and ABS for the rear wheel turned off.
The Tiger 800 XR variants compete against the BMW F 750 GS, Ducati Multistrada 950, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the Suzuki V-Strom 1000. The Tiger 800 XC on the other hand, goes up against the Honda Africa Twin and the BMW F 850 GS.
