EICMA 2017: India-bound Kawasaki Z900 RS Café photo gallery

For those who feel that the Kawasaki Z900 RS isn’t retro enough, Kawasaki has introduced a new variant of the bike, christened as the Z900 RS Café. There are several cosmetic upgrades which give the Z900 RS Café the classic look of a café racer. Here is a detailed photo gallery of the Z900 RS Café 

The most conspicuous upgrade on the Z900 RS Café is the headlamp cowl, which harks back to the 1970s and gives the bike a racy character. 

The green paint scheme with white stripe boosts its retro appeal. The seat features a hump which effectively acts like a bum stop. 

While we would have expected clip-on handlebars on such a bike, Kawasaki has stuck to straight handlebars on the Z900 RS Café.

Nevertheless, the twin-pod instrument console with analogue dials maintains the charm. The tiny digital displays add a modern touch.

The Z900 RS uses the same Z900-based steel-trellis chassis and the 998cc inline four engine as the standard bike, mated to a six-speed transmission.

The engine delivers 111bhp and 98Nm of torque. Rider aids include a traction control system with two modes and an ‘Off’ setting and switchable ABS.

The Z900 RS Café rides on 41mm inverted front forks with adjustable compression and rebound, and a rear monoshock with adjustable rebound and preload.

Given the recent surge in demand for such classic motorcycles in India, we can expect the Z900 RS and the Z900 RS Café to be launched here in the first half of 2018.
