Tokyo Motor Show 2017: Top 5 Two-wheelers unveiled

The Tokyo Motor Show witnessed a slew of new releases from manufacturers. We pick out the top five production two-wheelers unveiled there.

Kawasaki Z900 RS

Kawasaki is now a part of a growing list of manufacturers with a modern-classic motorcycle in their line-up, with the new Z900 RS. The bike’s design is highly influenced by the Kawasaki Z1.; However, its cycle parts and engine are borrowed from the streetfighter Z900.  So it strikes a good balance for someone looking for an old-school motorcycle without the hassles of owning one.

Kawasaki Ninja 400

This offering from Team Green is an all new motorcycle. The Ninja 400 is lighter, better equipped with technology and more powerful than the Ninja 300. It even looks the part with its aggressive styling inspired from the Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja H2R. Is this motorcycle a KTM RC390 killer?

Yamaha Niken

Yamaha displayed a number of futuristic concepts at the show and so it’s understandable when one would mistakes the Niken to be one of them. The radical looking motorcycle uses Yamaha’s Leaning Multi-Wheel (LMW) system that connects two wheels in the front with a central hub. Powered by an engine based on the streetfighter MT-09’s in-line three mill, the motorcycle will go on sale next year.

Honda Goldwing

The Honda Goldwing has undergone a complete revamp for 2018. The motorcycle gets a new fascia, engine, transmission and electronics; all of this to make the mammoth lighter and easier to ride. The Goldwing will be available in two versions- the standard Goldwing and Tour. Both versions get optional DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) while the Tour also gets an optional airbag system.

Suzuki Swish

The Swish, along with the Access, was Suzuki’s 125cc scooter offering in India before it was discontinued with the industry’s move to BS-IV. Now though, Suzuki has unveiled a new Swish for 2018 at the motor show. It gets a complete styling overhaul, giving it an aggressive look. It also sports an LED headlamp with LED DRLs and an LCD instrument cluster. We hope to see the Swish at the 2018 Auto Expo in India.
