KTM RC250 spotted testing in India

Bajaj has begun testing the KTM RC250 in India. A test mule was recently spied doing the rounds of the Mumbai-Pune highway. 

This is the first time that the RC250 has been spotted testing on Indian roads. While Bajaj manufactures this fully-faired motorcycle at its Chakan plant and exports it worldwide, it never launched in India. The spied motorcycle carried the visual updates from its other two siblings, the RC200 and the RC390. These models were updated early this year, just before the new 390 Duke made its way to the Indian market. 

The RC250 is nothing but a downsized version of the 373cc engine that powers the RC390. It shares the same frame, wheels, suspension and even the instrument cluster. This 250cc motor produces 30bhp and 24Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. 

Now, it is to be seen whether KTM will launch the RC250 in India or not. While the company did introduce the Duke 250 earlier this year, we don’t think it will use the same strategy for its RC series. The world is yet to see or hear anything about the next generation RC series. We did get in touch with KTM India regarding this. However, there was no response from the company at the time of publication.
