The 2017 Triumph Street Triple RS is going to be launched in India on 16 October. A higher-spec variant of the Street Triple S, the RS is a replacement for the Street Triple 675R.
The new Street Triple RS carries influence of its predecessor’s iconic design with the bug-eye headlamps and the muscular bodywork. It gets a five-inch colour TFT instrument console which can be controlled through a five-way joystick on the switchgear. At the heart of the Street Triple RS is an inline three engine, displacing 765cc. The engine delivers 121bhp and 77Nm of torque, which is slightly higher than the output of the S. It also benefits from a slipper clutch and a quickshifter for clutchless upshifts.
The Street Triple RS rides on fully-adjustable 41mm Showa front forks and an Ohlins monoshock. While the previous Street Triple had to make do with just ABS, the RS also gets traction control, five riding modes and traction control in addition to switchable ABS.
We expect the Street Triple RS to feature an introductory price of around Rs 10.5 lakhs. It will compete against the Kawasaki Z900 and the more expensive MV Agusta Brutale 800.
