Triumph to launch the 2018 Bonneville Speedmaster on October 3

After teasing the motorcycling world about an upcoming bike on 3 October, Triumph has confirmed that this bike is the 2018 Bonneville Speedmaster. The bike will be revealed at the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience in Hinckley, UK.

The Speedmaster is not a new name as Triumph has chosen to revive the bike which was first launched in 2002. That bike had a 790cc engine, which eventually got an upgrade in 2005 with a 60bhp 865cc parallel-twin engine.

Quick glimpses of the bike from the teaser video suggest that the bike sticks with the low slung exhausts, spoke wheels, forward-set foot controls and the classic Triumph badge. The bike is likely to feature the traction control, ride modes and optional cruise control like the Bonneville Bobber. It would also get ABS which is now mandatory in European markets. 

The 2018 Bonneville Speedmaster, is based on the Bonneville Bobber, although with a bit more of chrome and typical cruiser dimensions. It will also use the same 1200cc liquid cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 76bhp and 106Nm of torque via a six-speed transmission.  The Speedmaster also uses a hidden monoshock to give it the classic hardtail look.
