Yamaha records 4 per cent growth in August

Yamaha India has announced a four per cent growth in August 2017 as compared to August 2016. The Japanese manufacturer sold 77,887 two-wheelers last month in India and Nepal, a significant increase from the 74,868 units it managed to sell in the corresponding period, last year.
With this, Yamaha has cemented its position as the fifth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. While the FZ and Fazer continue to perform consistently, the company has been capitalising on the increase in scooter sales in the country. The Fascino and the Cygnus Ray ZR continue to rake in good numbers, and the company recently launched its first exclusive scooter showroom in Bengaluru. As for the premium commuter market space, Yamaha recently added the fully-faired Fazer 25 to its portfolio.
Yamaha’s image of being a youth-centric manufacturer has worked well for the company, both in the urban and rural areas. The company has also been expanding its footprint across the country, focusing on adding more touch points in tier II and III cities, thereby catering to a wider audience.
