BMW Motorrad’s upcoming middleweight adventure touring motorcycle, the F750GS, has been spotted testing in Europe. Expected to be unveiled at the 2017 EICMA Show later this year, the F750GS will succeed the ageing F700GS.
Apart from the bump in displacement and a new platform, the F750GS gets a major cosmetic overhaul. It gets sharper lines giving it a modern look. While the F700GS is built around steel trellis frame, the F750GS will be based on a cast aluminium frame with aluminium swingarm, which is shared with the upcoming F850GS. The subframe integrates easy mounting points for panniers, which is missing in the F700GS.
The F750GS parallel-twin powertrain now has the drive on the left side of the bike. It is expected to deliver around 85bhp. The F750GS rides on cast alloy wheels and the brakes which used to be radially mounted before are now conventional ones. Comparing the previous spy shots with this test mule, it is clear that BMW will be offering the F7500GS in at least three trims with different equipment. In global markets, it will compete against the Kawasaki Versys 650, Yamaha Tracer 700 and the Honda NC750X. With a growing demand for adventure touring bikes in India, BMW Motorrad might even launch the F750GS or the bigger sibling, the F8650GS, in the Indian market.
