Ducati announces software upgrade for MY2015 and MY2016 1299 Panigale

Ducati has announced a new software upgrade for customers of the 1299 Panigale. The upgrade involves a new version of traction control system, which was first shown in the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario.

This new version of the traction control system is called DTC Evo. Ducati claims that the DTC Evo has been developed using their learnings from their MotoGP and WBSK racing machines. It is said to make the electronic intervention in case of wheel spin faster and more precise. The system interacts with a six-axis IMU to calculate the degree of intervention needed, depending upon the setting. It acts on the throttle body valves and controls spark and injection advance to control wheel spin. Apart from existing ‘1’ and ‘2’ settings, the DTC EVO system also has a new ‘spin on demand’ function.

After the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario, this system was also introduced in the 2017 1299 Panigale and other variants. Now though, owners of 2015 and 2016 1299 Panigale can get DTC Evo installed on their motorcycles by visiting a Ducati service center. However, this upgrade has been mentioned as an ‘accessory’, which means customers might have to shell out some cash to get the system installed on their bikes. Ducati isn't offering this upgrade for Indian customers as of now.
