2017 Triumph Tiger Explorer launched in India at Rs 18.75 lakhs

The new Triumph Tiger Explorer has been launched in India at Rs 18.75 lakhs (ex-showroom). The flagship model in Triumph’s Tiger range of adventure bikes, the Tiger Explorer is a rival to the Ducati Multistrada EnduroAprilia Caponord 1200 Rally and the BMW R1200 GS.

For 2017, Triumph has updated the Tiger Explorer with a few cosmetic changes and a BS IV compliant engine. While it sports a similar look, it gets subtle visual updates for the tank and radiator cowls. The windshield is now electrically adjustable. The instrument cluster has been updated with an analogue tachometer and LCD displays.

At the heart of the Triumph Tiger Explorer is a 1215cc inline three-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 137bhp and 123Nm of torque through a final shaft drive. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The ride-by-wire throttle has allowed access to five riding modes - Road, Rain, Off-road, Sport and a rider programmable mode. Rider aids include traction control and cornering ABS. It even gets a six-axis IMU. The semi-active suspension has been supplied by WP. Braking hardware consists of a Brembo setup with dual 305mm discs up front and a Nissin setup with 282mm disc at the rear.

While the Tiger Explorer is globally available in six variants, it is offered only in the XCx trim in India. Triumph is offering a slew of optional accessories for the bike including panniers, hand guards, bash plate, heated grips and crash protectors among others. The Tiger Explorer is available in three paint schemes – white, black and blue.
