Ducati won’t race upcoming V4 bike in WSBK until 2019

Ducati won’t be racing the upcoming V4 superbike in the World Superbike Championship until 2019. This news was confirmed by Claudio Domenicalli, CEO, Ducati.

This new V4 motorcycle which has been derived from the MotoGP bike will be unveiled to the world at the 2017 EICMA show, Italy. In fact, the company recently bid adieu to its famous 1299 Panigale with the launch of the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition. Instead the Italian marque has chosen to focus for the rest of the year on a successful launch of the V4 bike.

The details of this motorcycle, in terms of design and performance remains scarce, but it is likely to have astonishing figures. Just like the rest of the Ducati models, the V4 will definitely have a large bank of electronics and we won’t be surprised if it is loaded with technology that is both avant-garde and first-in-that-class.

“As we have already said, our future in Superbikes will be with a V4 engine, derived from MotoGP. The bike will be introduced at EICMA this year. As we typically do at Ducati, we will take one year for development with the new model before racing. So in 2018, we will still use the Panigale R and then the V4 will be raced from 2019," said Claudio Domenicalli.

The buyers will be able to buy this new Ducati in 2018. However, there’s a high chance that Ducati will start taking bookings in some regions in the current year. Will the upcoming Ducati V4 bike come to India? Definitely. But expect the pricing to be north of Rs 40 lakhs.
