Royal Enfield witnesses 25 per cent growth in April

Royal Enfield has registered a 25 per cent jump in sales in April 2017 as compared to corresponding period in the last year. The Chennai-based manufacturer sold 60,142 motorcycles in the last month as opposed to the 48,197 units it had managed in the April 2016.

Of these, Royal Enfield sold 58,564 motorcycles in the domestic market. It is not just the domestic market that has been kind to Royal Enfield, as the export numbers also brought in good news for the company. Royal Enfield shipped off 1,578 motorcycles to its global markets in the last month, which is 36 per cent higher than April 2016.

The 350cc motorcycles continue to make up a major chunk of the volumes. The Classic 350 continues to occupy the top spot, followed by Bullet 350 and the Thunderbird 350. With the aim of becoming the the global leader in mod-size segment, Royal Enfield is planning to launch a new parallel-twin platform to compete against Harley-Davidson and Triumph, later this year.
