Bajaj has launched the Pulsar 160NS in Nepal at NPR 2.59 lakh (Rs 1.61 lakh). A premium commuter manufactured in India, the Pulsar 160NS rivals the Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S, Honda CB Hornet 160R and the TVS Apache RTR 180 in the Nepalese market.
Designed along the lines of the bigger Pulsar NS200, the Pulsar 150NS is built on a revised version of the streetfighter's perimeter frame. The headlamp and tank design, foot pegs, instrument cluster, turn indicators as well as the clip on handlebar have been borrowed from the Pulsar NS200, though it gets smaller 33mm front forks.
The Bajaj Pulsar 160NS is powered by a 160.3cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder triple-spark DTS-i engine delivering 15.3bhp and 14.6 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with front and rear disc brake.
Bajaj currently sells the Pulsar 160NS in a few global markets. While the Naked Sport models are more advanced than the previous generation Pulsars, it is quite obvious that Bajaj will not be able to offer these bikes at the same lucrative price. The company's contender in the premium commuter segment, the Pulsar AS150 was discontinued a few months ago and we do not expect the Pulsar 160NS to be launched here anytime soon.
